Biography - Vox    Germany

German label, active from 1921-May 1929.

Vox released both 25cm (10 inch) and 30cm (12 inch) records. The 12" records were marked with an asterisk * or a zero (and sometimes both: *0) in front of the catalog number.

Originally, there were three price classes that different in label color, red, green, and blue.

Early releases through 1925 read VOX-Schallplatten-U.-/ Sprechmaschinen-A.G. / Berlin W. 9. on the three sides of the triangle. In 1926, all that briefly disappears from the label, including the label name itself. Later in 1926, the two upper lines of triangle read – Vox –. From Summer 1926, the new electrical recordings are also marked with "Elektrische Aufnahme" in silver script under the label. As early as 1927, this is replaced by the phrase "Electro-Vox" in white script below the label.
