Alexander Prince - Biography

Alexander Prince was born in 1874 in Aberdeen, Scotland, the eldest of eight children of William and Christina Sutherland, his real name being Alexander Sutherland.

At 8 years old he broke his leg, and was given a concertina by his father, a music shop owner, to keep him occupied while immobile. He became proficient on the Maccann Duet concertina, and together with his father and two sisters (Christina and Florence) he performed in ‘The Prince Family’ musical act, and at 20 years of age performed at the Glasgow Exhibition, which led to a career as a major Music Hall performer and after-dinner entertainer.

After his father’s death in the late 1890s, he spent most of his later life in Nottingham when not on tour and died in 1928.

Alias: George King on early 'The Twin' releases .
