Efim Schachmeister Tanzorchester - BiographyChaim "Efim" Schachmeister was a German Violinist and Dance-Band-Leader. He was Born in Kiew on July the 22nd in 1894 and he died at Age of 50 years in Buenos Aires South-America on Oct. the 6th in 1944. He had a great success in Germany in the 1920s. His parents were Romanian Jews. He was educated in Music in Berlin at the Stern Conservatory . In 1925 he got a Job as Dance-Band-Leader at the famous Excelsior-Hotel in Berlin. At that time he recorded a lot of Dance-Band-Songs for the German Grammophone Company. He played Foxtrotts, Shimmys, Charlestons and Waltzes.
