American country (and rockabilly) singer / songwriter.
Recorded as Matty O'Neil (early 1950's on King) and Sunshine Sisters, Salty and Mattie (on MGM), Opal Jean (on Hickory) and as Jean Chapel (from 1956 onwards on Sun, RCA, Challenge, Smash...). Primarily devoted herself to songwriting, totalling well over 400 penned songs.
