Les Brown - Biography

  

Les Brown, Born as Lester-Raymond Brown, on March 14th 1912 in Reinerton Philadelphia and he died on January the 4th 2001 in Los Angeles, California. Brown was an American Jazz-Swing-Saxophone-Player. He was attracted to the saxophone-music by his father. Les´father played a soprano-sax. Later on Les Brown made studies on the classical clarinet on the Ithaca-Conservatory of Music. After his studies he enrolled at Duke University and performed with a band called Blue Devils for four years, kaing over as Bandleader in his Junior year. He formed his legendary Swing-Band Les Brown and his Band of Renown in 1936. He did some arranger-work for other orchestras like Isham Jones, Larry Clintons and others. Les Brown as also wery popular in Europe. He made some nice swing-records. One remarkable tune was: Leap Frog or Sentimental journey.
