The Four Aces - Biography

  

The Four Aces was an American-male traditional Vocal pop-Music quartet, popular since the 1950s. The most popular record of that Group was: "Love is a many splendored Thing". Original-Members: Al Alberts, Dave Mahoney, Lou Silvestri and Rosario Vaccaro. Al Alberts went to South Philadelphia-High School and Temple University and served in the US-Navy, were he met Dave Mahoney. Originally, Alberts sang with Mahoney playing behind him, and later they added Rosario Vaccaro on trumpet and Lou Silvestri on drums. Al Alberts founded a record-label of his own, called Victoria-Records and they released the first record: It´s no sin, but they couldn´t find a Distributor. Later they got a contract with DECCA-Records, and the success went on. They released records from 1951-1959. Number 1 chart-hits in the USA: Three coins in the fountain in 1953 and Love is a many splendored Thing in 1955. All original-band members are dead now.
The Four Aces were inducted into the Vocal-Group-Hall-of-Fame in 2001.
