Werner Müller - Biography

  

Werner Müller (August 2, 1920 - December 28, 1998) was a German bandleader, conductor, arranger and producer.
As a German prisoner of war in the United States of America Müller became familiar with swing music. In 1946 he played swing music for the first time with fellow musician and bandleader Kurt Widmann.
In 1949, Müller became the conductor of the RIAS-Berlin Orchester. He arranged and recorded various dance band tunes for the German record company Polydor.
Werner Müller accompanied some German vocal stars, like Caterina Valente and others. He also arranged and recorded Latin American dance tunes under the use of the pseudonym Ricardo Santos.
In 1959 he moved to the German branch of the Decca record company, and he arranged and accompanied Caterina Valente again.
In 1967 he became the leader of the WDR-Tanzorchester in Cologne. He also provided the musical accompaniment for various German television shows.
