Side A1: Darnell was a pseudonym for producer Bob Miller. Britt's was the most successful version of the war-time hit, climbing to #7 on Billboard's national charts in 1942. It was the first Country and Western tune to receive a gold record for sales in excess one million copies.

Twitster 18th Oct 2014		Side A1: The song, with revised lyrics, was to return to the charts in 1960 with Red River Dave's hit "'There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving #2 (The Ballad Of Francis Powers)." The tune told the story of former Air Force Captain Francis Gary Powers, whose CIA U-2 spy plane was shot down over Russian territory while on a reconnissance mission, igniting the famous "U-2 Incident." Although sentenced to ten years in prison on espionage charges by the Russians in 1960, he was released in an exchange for Soviet KGB Colonel Vilyam Fisher, better known as "Rudolf Abel", who had been arrested in 1957 for espionage in the U. S.by the FBI.
