I'm wondering whether both 'credits' are a result of a misunderstanding. I think that "Keeper" is a traditional song, and it's not beyond possibility that in the sources used by Dyer-Bennett and Pears/Britten respectively, its origin was attributed to London or to Suffolk as the place where the song was 'collected'. (Pears & Britten lived at Aldeburgh in Suffolk for many years).

Side B: Popularized in the U. S. circa 1947 by Burl Ives.

A 1947 British release of the title (His Master's Voice D.A, 1873, featuring tenor Peter Pears and Benjamin Britten on piano) attributes the song to "Suffolk" as the composer. Whether this refers to revised lyrics or the music itself is unclear.
