 Cole McElroy's group was popular in the Seattle, WA. and Portland, OR. areas, so I think that Jimmie Davis the country singer can be ruled out.

 Although DAHR has linked him, I am not sure if the singer on the B-side is THE Jimmie Davis, later singer and songwriter of country, blues and pop songs, as well as a politician and governor of Louisiana. He was based in Louisiana then and these recordings were made in Los Angeles. He definitely made recordings for Columbia in December 1928 in Dallas, TX, which were not issued though.
