This disc is notable for early appearances by two distinctive artists: vocalist Teddy Grace on Side A and pianist Frankie Carle on Side B.

Grace was a stylish and swinging young female vocalist who had a promising but unfortunately brief career before marrying and retiring from show business. She made only a few dozen sides, nearly all of them on Decca, including some brilliants sessions under her own name with an all-star group of jazzmen as backup. I can't help but think that she walked away from a great career as a big-band vocalist and probably a place in history as one of the great solo vocalists.

Frankie Carle, of course, did not retire early from show business. He spent quite some time as a member of the Horace Heidt troupe of entertainers and occasionally leading sessions under his own name with Heidt musicians. He had a successful band of his own during the last throes of the swing era, many featuring excellent vocals by his daughter Marjorie, and made many excellent solo piano recordings before popular taste turned away from such things a few decades later.

This disc would have appeared first on the so-called "Sunburst" Decca label. The version shown here would be a later pressing, made after the "Sunburst" was discontinued.
