James McCrary is also on Columbia 14639-D, in a vocal trio with Rufus Quillian and Ben Quillian, misspelled the same way: RUFUS & BEN QUILLIAN WITH JAMES MCCRAVY
see https://www.wirz.de/music/quillian.htm

Apparently he also played guitar sometimes, although he was "not exactly a musician" according to Ben Quillian, see there.

It's quite alright, Bob. Happy Holidays to you.

Mike, my mistake then - I do not have all the references that you have. The names seemed too similar to be a different person. This is the only entry so far for James McCrary -or perhaps there are more mislabeled labels on the website by this artist? Interesting slight name differential and for the time era there are most likely more mistakes like this one.

The James McCrary on this record is an African-American blues singer. The McCravy Brothers, Frank and James are a white hillbilly duet. Fancourt's Blues Records discography will point this out.

Actually Mike Gann, His name is James McCravy. The label is not wrong-the attached videos have the wrong name. If you search this website or DAHR for James McCravy you will find a quite a few entries. He also had a brother named Frank McCravy - They recorded a lot of records together.

Columbia misspelled this artist's name on the label. His actual name is James McCrary.
