These are two fun sides. They remind me somewhat of Tony Bennett's efforts to hang with jazz men in more recent times. Bing Crosby was hipper in his day than Bennett has ever managed to be and occasionally did really nice things in fast jazz company. Try as he might, however, he was never as hip as Connee Boswell, and probably knew it. She gets the honors on this one, with the better performance on Bob White. There is excellent solo work by the supporting musicians, who are allotted generous amounts of space. Rust indicates the presence of Andy Secrest on cornet and possibly Abe Lincoln on trombone, which would account for the elevated hot quotient. If you want to hear Bing at his best in a duet mode, find his 78's with the Andrews Sisters or the album he made with Rosemary Clooney called Fancy Meeting You Here. Prime stuff.
