| | The Letter Edged In Black (at least as a title) had been around for decades when this record was made. It was a staple in Vernon Dalhart's library of morbid folkish songs and disaster ballads. I sincerely doubt any claim that P.D. Vich might have made to being its composer, although he may very well have arranged it for this disc. I will admit, however, that I have not heard this disc, and that only a comparison of this disc to the older versions would truly establish whether he wrote a new song for the occasion or not. |
