Notes

This song coupling was also released on Victor 16532 (same catalog number) around August 1910, but that release had "The Ninety and Nine" as sung by Frederic Freemantle. I dunno if these are the same recordings or not?!?

Hi, Edlongus, I have found both B sides on you tube and added the videos. As for the A side, it is the same recording. You can tell this by the matrix and take numbers. Generally, the same matrix number, is the same recording, on most recordings. Some records may have the same matrix number but with different take numbers resulting in slightly different recordings.

Hi, Bob1951!! I was confused on THREE levels - 1: If Frederic Freemantal and Harry McClaskey were the same person, 2: If the Freemantal and McClaskey recordings were the same recordings, and 3: If even the 1910 Hayden Quartet recording was the same recording re-issued in 1918?!? I saw the 1910 recording here (and I wish I knew how 2 insert hyperlinks in 45worlds/45cat?!?): https://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/16532, but only the A side label was loaded. I only own the 1918 copy, and I only research DAHR and 78discography.com before I upload these records. I was born in 1956, so I need any help I can get!! And I always appreciate your input on these 78 rpm recordings... ☺

They are not the same recordings, see DAHR. The images shown are the 1918 version with the artist Harry McClasky. There is most likely an earlier patents label 16532 out there somewhere with the artist listed as Frederic Freemantal. Two different singers, two different B sides, same song. I do not know why Victor recorded the second B side. Maybe the master got lost or damaged. It seems that Frederic Freemantal had a very short singing career.

Harry McClaskey is a pseudonym for Henry Burr.
