 Hi John: We do not have your record in our database at the moment. You are welcome to create an entry for it and then perhaps a value can be found for it. {Thank you, Mod.}

 hi --

I'm new to this - not sure what to look for WRT older records: I have the above record with some differences -idk if the differences improve the value or not. The Preacher and the Bear Arthur Collins stamp is 4431 it's a victor record and it's one sided.

I'm assumng it's like many collectables --rarity and fit drive price up. I'm going to keep the recording -- can anyone help me value it??

John

 The Preacher And The Bear had been a long-standing gramophone success for many artists. Written in 1904 by music publisher Arthur Longbrake under the pseudonym Joe Arzonia, it was recorded many times by Arthur Collins and released on cylinder and disc by many labels, starting probably with a Victor release in 1905. The novelty song was the best selling gramophone record for many years and Collins sold in the millions over 20 years, including at least one UK release by The Gramophone Company which was accompanied by an explanatory leaflet of the 'blackface' dialect.

This video is of a 1912 cylinder recording, giving a long track time of 4:45 minutes, and the accompanying notes give a detailed biography of Arthur Collins
