 Columbia later took that 3.5" diameter label size as used on 78's in this period, and then applied them to their version of the 45 RPM record that they began pressing on a test basis in August 1950, and then began trickling in more 45's beginning that October till they were issuing more of the "donut holes" (per BB's verbiage) full-time by February 1951.

Incidentally, in these years Columbia's "deep groove" was set at 1.15625" diameter.

 I think it took a while before label size, or record speed for that matter became standardized. Certainly, those old Victor, Edison Bell, Columbia labels were quite a bit bigger than later 78s.

 Added this yesterday and forgot to ask whether we are bothering to mention the actual label size anywhere?,this label is quite big at 9cm diameter,much bigger than the standard(ish) size.Anyone know?,cheers.
