| slholzer 28th Aug 2017 | According to Bolig's Victor Black Label Discography, 18000/19000 series, Takes 1 and 2 of side B were both issued. It appears that take 1 was used on the earliest pressings and take 2 on the later, but Bolig was not able to provide a dividing date when take 2 replaced take 1. They were cut on the same day with the same backup. It would probably take close listening to discern any audible differences. The disc remained in the catalog from 1916 to 1922, raising at least a possibility that minor label variations might allow visual identification of some pressings as either take 1 or take 2. The surest way to know, per Bolig, is to look for the microscopic take number at the 9 o'clock position to the left of the label in the wax. | |
