 Ted Lewis' clarinet playing on Li'l' Liza Jane really lifts this song and inspired other budding musicians to take up the instrument and start playing jazz. In his autobiography, Garvin Bushell recounts how he played this record over and over as a teenager and subsequently abandoned his plans to become a concert pianist to instead learn clarinet and become a jazz musician.
