Per Sutton's "Pseudonyms on American Records, 1892-1942", Lane's Dance Orchestra is usually a pseudonym for Arthur Lange's Orchestra. Dale's Dance Orchestra is usually a pseudonym for Bob Haring's Orchestra. A number of exceptions to both cases are listed, but this record is not among them. Arthur Lange's band is one of the other bands that sometimes appeared as Dale's Dance Orchestra. The A-side title is not listed undder Lange's name in Rust's American Dance Band Discography. Chansonette does appear in Rust as a Cameo recording under Lange's name with no Lincoln issue mentioned. Neither title appears under Haring's name anywhere.

The B-side co-composer shown on the label as Spaith should have been Spaeth. What is known here as Chansonette first appeared as Chanson (In Love) as part of a larger serious work by Friml. It became Chansonette for a time in various fox trot settings and in a performance by Paul Whiteman's band at the Aeolian Hall concert that featured the debut of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Eventually it became the Donkey Serenade in one of Friml's operettas. The individuals involved with the illustrated version are Dailey Paskman, Sigmund Spaeth, Irving Caesar and Rudolf Friml.
