 These two ladies -Eily Beadell and Nelly Tollerton entered a song writing competion in 1946 and won it with 'Cruising Down the River' ( they were two London ladies I believe). it was quite popular with the dance bands over here, but suddenly in 1949 it came to the attention of the American record market, and it made the ladies a fortune. Russ Morgan was at No.1 in the Billboard Best Sellers for seven weeks in Mar/April 1949. Blue Barron reached No. One on the Best Sellers in Feb. 1949. Jack Smith and the Clark Sisters nade No.14, the Three Suns made made No.24, Primo Scala and the Keynotes ( a British release made No. 27 and Frankie Carle made no.28, all on the Best Seller Chart.
