 If I saw the arrangement commented on in the Notes on an American record I would suspect that the two artists were of roughly equal stature and that the award of top billing on alternate sides was a diplomatic move to make them both happy. It was sometimes seen on vocal duet recordings. Its use to balance the interests of the vocalist and the band is unusual.
