Jock_Girl 31st May 2014		A competing version of Old Man Atom was also recorded by the Sons of the Pioneers on RCA Victor 21-0368 and met a similar fate. The Sons of the Pioneers were well know as being quite patriotic having recorded tracks like Stars And Stripes On Iwo Jima, making the entire situation quite ironic.



LaurenceD SUBS ● 31st May 2014		Apparently there were complaints that Old Man Atom was pro-communist, and stations were reluctant to play it, so Columbia pulled the record. See this page for more information. The Sep 2 1950 Billboard issue is full of 'anti-Red' editorials and lists of organizations designated as subversive.
