I'm curious as to what the actual label size of these 78's were. They were more apropos to that of 78's from the early 1920's or before - Victor had 4.0625" diameter center labels in the 1910's at the outset of the "batwings" label design, then in the early 1920's 3.6875" (which was also used by Vocalion), and Columbia had a 3.5" center label whose size they would later recycle for use on 45's for as long as they pressed their own records in that speed - 1950 to 1991. Why doesn't anyone prepping 78's for RSD use the 3" label size that was standardized in the 1930's?

At least they spent the money to put out the "SMiLE" boxed set (finally!!)... Only been waiting 30 years for it.

Jock_Girl, I agree 110%. I thought exactly the same thing.

Why this was ever issued as a 78 is beyond me as the Beach Boys had almost nothing to do with the 78 rpm era. There is only one known BB 78 and it issued in India in about 63, so these tracks are even outside that era. All in all this comes across as a money grab by Capitol and so typical of they way they treat the music, the artists and the public similar to the way they butchered the Beatles elpees and did things like Duophonic and fake stereo.

B “Next Time I’ll Take My Shoes Off”

The first Capitol (USA) 78rpm entered into the database, and funny enough, it's from record store day 2011.
