scrough 12th Aug 2019		Discographers use the 'W' convention to indicate a disk recorded using the Western Electric process. You'll find it in the runout as a W in a circle. Columbia later moved to its own electric recording system and those matrices are usually given as CAX... as the symbol in the runout changes to C in a circle. Most Columbia electrical re-recordings have an R suffix on the catalogue number, so we list them separately.



Bamboo 12th Aug 2019		Very interesting indeed ! I wonder why the extra 'W' instead of just AX1323/4 ? Also, would the 'R' normally mean a re-issue I wonder ? Thank you for any clarification you can give.



scrough 12th Aug 2019		The side variations were recorded 26 Feb 1926, matrices WAX1323-2/WAX1324. Ronald Taylor's discography has these releases with a catalogue number with an R suffix, but in this case obviously not!
