thebluesneverdie 1st Apr 2014		Singer came from Kent,and became sexton at Burwash Church.Died 1976,aged 71.Known as "Mr.Funniful",a range of dolls were called after him(half man,half pig).Not a full-time entertainer,though he appeared with Laurel & Hardy,Flanagan & Allen,and was a member of The Crazy Gang.Worked with famous comedian,Leslie Sarony,to whom he taught these two songs,which Sarony subsequently recorded himself.Promo photos show him dressed as a farmer,holding a sow's ear.N.B.first "traditional" style folksinger to record in the UK.(Actually,"Buttercup Joe" is the A-side of the record,although the B-side was probably more popular).{mod:Sides swapped}
