| slholzer 31st Jul 2016 | I think your title on Side A is missing the word "You". [Now added. Mod.] Adrian Schubert AH Salon Orchestra recorded the track in New York on May 15, 1930. It was issued as the Hollywood Dance Orchestra on Jewel 5982, Banner 0730 and Imperial 2356. The mx is 9794-1, although the label may bear a different control number. According to Rust, there is a vocal by Harold "Scrappy" Lambert, although he may well appear under another name, such as Larry Holton, on your broken Jewel. Rust shows a "Dancing In A Trance" recorded by Lou Gold AHO, but it is shown as issued on Clarion and Velvet Tone, which would mark it as a Columbia property and perhaps not the same track as yours. As a reference point, the Columbia track was recorded in New York on February 17, 1931. It would not have been out of the question for Gold to have made the track previously for another label, although using his own name on both labels is rather ballsy, and would, within a very year years, become completely unacceptable to the major labels. | |
