 This is an example of WW II era Gennett. The Steiner-Davis guys bought the label to get its allotment of shellac and other essential materials that were in short supply and subject to wartime rationing. The Gennett label would have been producing little more than sound effects records at the time. Steiner-Davis put it into the r&b business. The 5 Red Caps were one of their primary artists and Irene Higginbotham was one of their chief writers. Gennett releases were not prolific during the war years, but some of these records must have sold in numbers. They are not particularly rare, as r&b records go.
