 Interesting disc. A-side composer G.W. Persley and B-side composer Thomas P. Westendorf were friends. Persley wrote the A-side song and Westendorf wrote the B-side song as an answer to it. Both songs were successful, although I think Westendorf's is probably better remembered and meant more to him because it was his first hit and made his name as a songwriter.

It is appropo of nothing, but "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen" is said to have been Thomas Edison's favorite song. The fact that the sentimental ballad was already hopelessly out of fashion when Edison launched his recording company may give a clue as to why Edison's company ultimately failed while others survived the Great Depression and thrived in the better times that followed.
