Per the Duophone list on Mike Thomas' mgthomas.co.uk website, The Wabash Dance Orchestra is a speudonym for Red Nichols orchestra on Side A. Per the same source, The Melody Makers is a pseudonym on Side B for Bill Wirges' Orchestra.

"She's A Great, Great Girl" appears in both the American Dance Band Discography and the 6th edition of Jazz Records under the Wabash Dance Orchestra heading. Rust agrees, however, that it is led by Red Nichols. It was included in Jazz Records, as one would expect from a band that included Red Nichols, Miff Mole, Fud Livingston, Artie Schutt, Carl Kress, and Chauncey Morehouse. Rust identifies the vocalist as Eddy Thomas. He indicates that Thomas was working as Tom Edwards, but since there is no name on the label at all, I can only guess where Rust got that from. Perhaps it was in the files that way. Rust had it as recorded on Sept 14, 1928 in the ADBD but had changed it to Sept 18, 1928 by the time JR6 came out. It was recorded in NY.

Rust provides no vocalist name or personnel for the Wirges orchestra. "Angela Mia" was recorded in NY on Sept. 12, 1928.

According to Rust, all of the sides made by the Wabash Dance Orchestra and all of the sides made on three sessions by Bill Wirges were issued on Duophone and no where else. It would appear that Duophone must have commissioned a number of American recording sessions for its exclusive use during September and early October, 1928. The mx numbers used suggest that Brunswick was the probable agent of this business.
