 The composer shown on Side A as Nichols is actually Horatio Nicholls (r.n. Lawrence Wright). Nicholls is described as a prolific songwriter, which is undeniably true. At least one commentator goes on to say that prolific does not always equate to good, and that most of Nicholls' songs were forgettable, and some were outright awful.(Possibly true of nearly all songwriters?, you may say. Perhaps, but clearly not so much for some than others.) "Among My Souvenirs", however, was a huge success. It was recorded at least 5 times in the year it was written (1927) and ranked among the top songs of 1928. It's longevity is evident in this recording by Sinatra and by Connie Francis' recording in the 1950's. If Nicholls was truly a "blind pig", this song was his "truffle".
