| | So if this was a release taken from an EP, might that be why there was another issue of both sides in the Philippines with different couplings? |

| | Hello Jock Girl - f.y.i...
GEP 8880 was The Beatles' Hits E.P. :
From Me To You / Thank You Girl / Please Please Me / Love Me Do (2nd version)
GEP 8883 was The Beatles No.1 E.P. :
I Saw Her Standing There / Misery / Anna (Go To Him) / Chains
So perhaps ''From Me To You'' was the B-side of this disc?
* [see added comment above] . . . Interestingly ''From Me To You'' does not appear to exist on Indian 78. I have seen 7 different examples of ''Love Me Do'' (which wasn't issued until 1964, according to the labels), 5 copies of ''Please Please Me'' and 5 each of ''She Loves You'' and ''I Want To Hold Your Hand''. Only 3 of ''Can't Buy Me Love'' so far ... but if ''From Me To You'' existed, surely at least one would have turned up...
B.t.w. the Indian 78 of ''I Saw Her Standing There'' has ''Hold Me Tight'' on the flip side,
the South American ones have ''Twist And Shout'' on one and ''Don't Bother Me'' on the other, while in the Philippines the flip side was ''Boys''... (Tut - all those non-Lennon-McCartney songs! But did they care about that...)
Looking at the Philippines 78 of ''From Me To You'', are you sure that ''Thank You Girl'' was on the flip? No picture... Although the cat.no. R 5015 is there hiding on the label so maybe it was. (Picture please, anyone?) |

| | Note that this is catalogue number is a variation of the UK The Beatles (No. 1) GEP 8883 EP.
Seeing a it was pretty common in the Philippines to release entire LPs and EPs as sets of single disks, there is the chance that an EG 8883-2 exists with other tracks from that EP as well as from The Beatles' Hits GEP 8880 |

| | I remember reading in record collector the other year that someone had a copy of this with two A side labels he couldn't play it so had no idea what if the track listing was the same as shown here, but the person who replied to his question theorised it could have been the same track on both sides for either jukebox or DJ use. I wont create a new listing for it as I don;t know if it is a real release.
Anyone know anymore? |
