Rather than reissue new label design would be more accurate.

 Hi scrough,

Interesting information. Thanks for this.

I thought this was a reissue because if you point the mouse on the labels the user gave the description as (1923 ff. reissue).

Reason why I said it was a reissue.

To put this in the correct context, many records remained in the Regal (and other labels) catalogue for a very long time, so calling it a 're-issue' isn't correct. This version (mx:29900/29824) was finally deleted from the catalogue in September 1927, when it was replaced by an electrical re-recording (cat no. 7115R, mx: A5948/A5947) made on 9 August 1927. This re-recording remained in the catalogue until February 1942.

However many Regal recordings were acoustically re-recorded around 1923/4 and they can only be determined from the matrix number, not the label design.

No, that's what I thought. As far as the date is concerned, it is correct for the record. Another entry is not required unless there was a label name or cat. no. change.

 Hi Redpunk,

Yes I was referring to the label design as the above Regal style started to come out around May-June 1922 in the UK.

If you take a look at the Regal design of cat. no. G 7116, it has two variations. As to my understanding, the first label is the original 1st pressing with the 'Regal' name in a semi-circle with crown and scepter pics.

You are correct, the date does reflect of the cat. no. of this recording. During the 1920s Regal repressed many of their earlier UK recordings using their original catalogue numbers.

Unless someone uploads the original press of G 7115 then will know. 78s released in the 1910s are becoming scarce to find.

This Cat. No. relates to 1915. Are you referring to the label design ?
