scrough 29th Apr 2020		The R suffix discs are completely new recordings made to take advantage of the new electric recording extended frequency range. Columbia and Regal also made many new recordings in 1923/4 to take advantage of improvements in acoustic recording.



Bamboo 29th Apr 2020		Were these 'electrical re-recordings' completely different 'sessions' (ie. the performer did a new version of the song for the new electrical process) or were the original recordings / performances just copied somehow ?



scrough 24th Apr 2013		The 'R' indicates an electrical re-recording (see label biog). 'God Rest Ye' recorded 23 June 1926. 'Wenceslas' 7 July 1926. Date not changed from original release date to keep things tidy!!
