 The double "L" spelling only existed on a handful of Dot issues sourced from Fee Bee and including this hit. The original group at that stage had been split by legal shenanigans and the bunch who were recording for Mercury retained the single "L" spelling. Original member Kripp Johnson was lead on this issue and I think future soul star Chuck Jackson was there too. Anyway Marv Goldberg has all the details...
