OK, getalife, now we're getting some place.

I will, in the future, leave more space around the label, here and on 45cat too, as you wish, that's real easy.

I uploaded the eBay image just to show that there was a difference of color between the area next to Nipper and the rest. But, since it was taken with a digital camera, it is not to be trusted. I've seen wild changes of colors on eBay in the past.

That being said, I still think that, in most cases, the screens where I check the results of my scanning are rather faithful. There are three of them, 2 CRTs and one flat screen. And I would be glad to verify that with a shade chart if I had one. Anyway, I'll leave a note for you mods when I'm not reasonably satisfied with what I've scanned.

Don't bother with credits, getalife, as long as we agree on the images, its all right and I thank you.

Louis, I can take it on the chin.

I take your point on comparisons with other countries and labels, I will not do that in future.

Ref your scans, if you could leave a little more room around the label, it would help when cropping, I did not realise you did not have access to paintnet, I’m happy to crop your images and not touch the colour and tone buttons.

The coloured image was an attempt to match the eBay photo as a comparison, it was not Art for Art sake and will be removed.

One thing I learnt from my business, is not to rely on what your computer screens show, I have had many a customer email a colour swatch to match up to, only to find out it is not the same shade as my customer has showing on their screen, so I make a point of getting them to match from a shade chart and quote the colour reference number, point being, what my screen shows of a labels colour may not be the same as what others see.

The two images (4542/3) that you have approved, are your originals that I re-edited back from the edited ones I did, if that makes sense, but do not have you credited with these as I had to add them to the site from paint net, now do you want me to remove my first edits with your credits leaving the 4542/3 images but without your credits? it’s up to you.

Getalife, I appreciate the huge amount of work you're doing, so don't get me wrong. I took nothing personnally, I was just discussing facts. And I was giving you a little info about my own material problems. As I said before, I can't use paintnet, because my eMac won't accept it, that's the way it is. You can be as blunt as you like, I can take it :o)

Now, there's something I don't understand in your reasoning: you said that you changed "my" colors because of the way "your" HMV's looked. My turn to be blunt: I think it's a bad idea to refer to other countries, and to other labels for comparison. I said yesterday that images 4542/3 were OK by me, but you added image 4638. Why ? Because you think it's prettier ? I realize that 'my fate is in your hands', as the song goes, and that you have all the power. So do what you want with those pictures, without my agreement.

Regarding cropping, sometimes I can't see on my screen where is the border between label and 'wax'. So 'before you abuse, criticize and accuse, walk a mile in my shoes': that was just another song, not a way of having a go at you, because I'm sure you're a good guy.

@LouisSidney, your input is much appreciated,

but any image entered that has not been cropped or for other reasons will be put in the “Need Editing” file and its then up to the mods to edit the image to what they think is best, in your case (not having the information you have) I thought the label looked to light and so I darkened and adjust contrast to what I thought was best, in view of the amount of images in the “Need Editing” file it not practical to PM every edit.

Regarding cropping images, it is not always possible to crop some images as they have been scanned to the outer text, rather than the edge of the label (see some of your earlier scans) we the mods have to make the best of what is entered, however, paintnet cropping is easy to pick up, and by doing all the editing yourself it will then by past the “Need Editing”.

Although this may sound like I’m having a go at you, it’s not, its just my blunt way of answering questions, so don’t take it personally.

Images 4542/3 are correct, they are faithful in tone and color to the record itself.
Please delete 4539, which was the only picture (from eBay !) I had at hand yesterday. My own pictures were on an external drive. Thanks.
