NeworpK 15th Feb 2016		Harry Dilley, the cornet soloist here, was to become Principal Trumpet at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden where he served for many years. Preferring the relative lack of limelight provided by the orchestra pit, he can nevertheless also be heard accompanying the great Joan Sutherland in Handel's 'Let the Bright Seraphim' on the well-known Decca album 'The Art of the Prima Donna'. Dilley was a very greatly respected trumpeter in brass-playing circles, one of many Salvationist brass players to 'feed' the music profession; his apparently effortless, well-projected tone never lost its lyrical qualities: the command of the trumpet, balanced perfectly with the sweetness of the cornet.
