A Side printed in the Band Journal as 'Salvation Army Patrol' and likewise marked as per label as Descriptive March. New Zealander Dean Goffin's take on a Salvation Army band on a march , with Drums signalling start of march and muted cornet/s taking up the first 8 or so bars (my memory is fading ). A gradual crescendo over the following section as more instruments join in the theme , until the drums bring the 'march' to a halt , and an open-air meeting begins , with only a limited number of solo instruments playing while seconds and thirds sing to the tune 'Bright Crowns' and the percussionists switch to timbrels. Then there is a rousing section followed by another singing of the chorus , the drums beat out again and the march moves off , slowly getting quieter and instruments drop out to the last muted cornet , ( and a final single beat as all join in at the end).

More modern tuning of brass instruments , a slightly bigger band , use of trumpets instead of cornets and different room accoustics along with slightly slowing the tempo meant our band made In my opinion a better job than this 1940 release ( not surprisingly as I think the ISB at this time was made up of younger or older persons due to the impact of WW2 recruitment impacting on London at the time ).
