Pretty close to Giddy Up and Ding Dong, a year earlier:

a couple of other tracks [also on ep] appeared on this sometime in 1956 on this 10" album. I get the feeling that somebody at Mercury would have been kicking themselves for not moving into 45's while the RnR scene was booming!?

Thanks gents. I've got the EP and the 78, just wondered about the 45 that's all. There's a few
45s on ebay at the moment from various countries in Europe.

It was on an EP just a few months after this 78 was released.

Both Pye and Philips only started issuing UK singles on 45 in the second half of 1957, but each had started EP series already in 1955. Here in Finland, the local record industry was much the same: regular EP releases from 1954, but singles switched to 45 only in 1957-58.

Mercury were distributed by Pye (Nixa) at that time, and Pye were late into the 45rpm stakes (though not so late as Philips) -- first 45rpm July 1957 (though that may be the date of the 78 release as the next ones aren't till November, which would fit with the Mercury dates)

If you really want it on UK 45rpm, Old Gold did it...

A quick look on 45cat shows no UK Mercury 45's before November 1957- so no is the answer probably?
