fixbutte 5th Mar 2015		Release date update: I've found a notice about this record in the Advance Record Releases in Billboard of March 13, 1948, p. 115 (Hot Jazz). That issue, however, has an additional "C-" in the catalog number. Anyway I'll change it to that date because it ties in with the Commodore records that already are on the 78 RPM database.

Where he recorded them, I have no idea. The record I have in front of me is in near mint condition.

A lot to say about this one alone: • Artist is not Albert Aamons but Albert Ammons, as you can easily read on the record labels. • Label is not Commodore Classics but just Commodore (Record Co., Inc.) who refers to its records as "Classics in Swing". • Label is not Canadian but U.S. Nothing on the record label about Canada, only "N.Y., U.S.A.". • Title of the recordings is not "A Piano Solo" but "The Boogie Rocks" (A-side) and "Albert's Special Boogie" (B-side). Both are piano solos. • Catalog number is not A-4714-1 or A-4715-2 which are apparently matrix numbers, different for each side, but 617 with additional designation of A and B side. • Release date is not February 1944 which as printed on the labels under the matrix numbers shows the recording date (don't know where you got the "11 Feb 1944" from). We don't want the recording dates (which may differ from side to side) as the "Date" but the release date of the record. This one here is not easy to decide but it was probably later in the year of 1944, see http://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/7937051. • Your long comment about the recording does not belong to the image description, see instruction: Briefly describe the image, such as Cover, A Side Label etc. If your image is a label variation then please describe this. Please use the "Add a comment" tool for such remarks. • Your note about the cat# uncertainty does not belong to the published Notes.
