 By spreading my nets as widely as possible, I was able to gather at least partial information on 21 different Nadsco issues. Nadsco discs bear the same catalogue numbers as their parent Grey Gull /Radiex/Globe etc. discs. That being the case, it is possible, but by no means certain, that any Grey Gull issue from the ranges covered also appears on Nadsco. You will find any number of entries for Grey Gull discs that are known to be on Nadscos in the American Dance Band Discography, but with no mention of the Nadsco issue. It is also distinctly possible that gaps appear in the Nadsco catalogue where they simply weren't interested in selling the corresponding Grey Gull product. In other words, the 21 I know about could be all there were. (I doubt that, but it's possible.)

I have data on some 2000 series vocal records, 4000 series records of misc music, and 7000 series dance records. A few sources say the Nadsco records were made for the National Department Store Co. chain and that they were issued as late as 1926. I haven't found one yet that was cut later than August, 1925, but they could be out there.

 This is a rarity and an interesting opportunity to fill a hole in the discographical record. The mx numbers are Grey Gull and date from July or August, 1925. Although both bands have their own chapters, neither of the above sides are listed in Rust's American Dance Band Discography under either name or the Grey Gull studio orchestra. Neither band is credited with any activity in the Grey Gull studios in that time frame. Such examples of Nadsco as I've seen suggest that pseudonyms were not a common feature of the label, so I'm inclined to credit the names as printed. I would be surprised if the sides did not appear somewhere on the other Grey Gull labels, but it is possible that these sides appeared only on Nadsco.

Nadsco operated from 1922 to 1925. It drew its matrices from the Grey Gull stable of labels. Its catalogue has never been adequately researched and probably remained largely a mystery to Brian Rust when he published the American Dance Band Discography in 1975 and the American Record Label Book in 1978. Any Nadsco that you possess is likely to be the first example of the issue that any one has ever seen. At the moment, this is the highest Nadsco catalogue number I've seen. The main series is the 1200 series, so I'm guessing they started at 1200 or 1201. I've seen isolated Nadscos in other series.
