scrough 20th Sep 2021		@Pridesale: Double-sided discs were pressed by many companies from ~1907 after an Austrian court overturned a patent on them.

Pridesale 20th Sep 2021		I thought I was confused, did not think this disc would be pressed in 1870, it must be pretty close to 1912 which ties to Redpunk's comment ( would it have been pressed by effectively parlophone or were independent dual sided disc presses in operation by 1912. I presume ? That Lyric in part passed out of issuing owning to WW1 or what other late 1913 event ?



TheJudge 12th Sep 2021		Germany was first effectively unified in 1871, but the individual states within it still retained a lot of autonomy (of identity, at least) until the Republic replaced the Empire after WW1.

Redpunk ● 9th Sep 2021		The Lyric label is a short lived label from the 1912-1913 period and is quite rare. Especially this design which I've never come across in the flesh.



Scratchy45 ● 9th Sep 2021		Pridesale - i don't have means to play something like this at the moment. I understand quite a lot of shellacs sold in the UK pre-1914 were pressed in Germany.



Pridesale 9th Sep 2021		If that is pressed in Saxony would that be pre (end of) WW1 ? Could be Billy Williams looking for extra incomes, what does audio sound like !! Artist name appears on Famous in 1912 too.



Scratchy45 ● 9th Sep 2021		Both songs (can't play them at present) are usually performed by Billy Williams. Might this be a cash-in? I see no aliases for Billy Williams.



Scratchy45 ● 9th Sep 2021		Entered with cat no C2 as seen to right centre of label. Michael Thomas's website with details of UK labels seems to explain why. - this is an earlier series with Midland Gramophone Co.to bottom of label and and Saxony (Kalliope) pressing reference.
