A-side 78 RPM play. Nod to BigBadBluesMan.
Disc playing does not appear to be from USA. Can anyone ascertain its origin?

Is this a duplicate entry? Already listed at S-1

It sounds like Capitol was confusing recording dates with release dates here ("Sixteen Tons' " release date was October 1955 while "I've Got The Milk 'em In The Morning Blues" would have been released in February 1949). And it would seem logical on its face why "Sixteen Tons" would have been on the A side here: At #1 pop, it was Ford's biggest hit.

Who knew, though, that such discrepancies would be subjected to latter day "Ol' Nit-Pickers"? ;-)

Scrawled in the runout is simply EFS SIDE-1 and EFS SIDE-2.

Capitol really hosed this one up. It is a nice vinyl pressing, but, the area for the label is LP sized with a 78 sized label.

Other problems are the fact that Milk 'Em in The Morning was actually recorded on recorded on 21 January 1949 according to http://www.ernieford.com/SINGLES-1.html . The label on this record says February 1949.

Placing Sixteen Tons on the A side is problematic as it was recorded 20 September 1955 according to the same official Ernie Ford website and not October 1955.

Plus, if they were commemorating him at 40 years with Capitol, why did they place his first release on the B side instead of the A side!

The ol' Pea-Picker deserved better!

Can anyone advise as to the lacquer numbers for each side, whether they had an 'F' or 'G' code or something else? I can say with certainty that this would have been a Los Angeles pressing, with Bert-Co typesetting.

Capitol missed a great opportunity by not reproducing a vintage Capitol label for this special commemorative release
