It also appears that Bert-Co, which typeset the labels, had the center label size die-cut at 2.875" - and the center label hole die-cut at 0.375". Bridgeports would have had them at 3" and 0.34375", respectively.

Sounds like this was mastered by Radio Recorders and/or their Annex in Hollywood, CA. That's what the 'RR' initials stand for; Columbia rented studio space from RR / Annex between 1949 and 1960-61. (Hence, the RHCO master number prefix on many a 78 from 1949 until the format's demise in 1958.)

Sorry for the delay W.B. - I retrieved it from storage and yes, there is an 'H', and the matrix numbers are RR 22223 and RR 22224 for Cookin' and Hottentot respectively.

Apparently it was a Hunt tomato sauce jingle featuring Peggy King that caught Mitch Miller's attention and resulted in her being signed by Columbia. I don't think that Hottentot went anywhere, but her recording of Learning To Love (Columbia 40562) did reach the charts.

The other thing - What would be the matrix numbers of each side?

Would this record have an 'H' in the deadwax? That would indicate a pressing from their Hollywood, CA plant. But also, the label fonts on both sides were from Bert-Co.

This was probably pressed by Columbia. The sleeve colours are similar to that of Columbia 45s of the era. Plus -- duh -- the mention of Mitch Miller and the release of the B side as a Clumbia single
