78 RPM Record
Notes Plain white label 1-Sided Vinyl Decca Master Testing of Matrix MB-478 This is a vinyl Decca Master Test Pressing of a mystery 1929 recording of a female American singer and good piano accompaniment performing ‘I Want To Be Bad’ from the Musical ‘Follow Through’ which opened at the Dominion Theatre in London on October 3 1929, and this recording dates from almost exactly that date. The singer of ‘I Want To Be Bad’ in the production was American stage star Ada May, who replaced Broadway cast member Zelma O’Neal for the London production. In all likelihood this was an Audition Date for Decca by Ada May, but the result was never issued. Ada May made no other known recordings. These were pressed on heavy vinyl in the 1960s and 1970s by Decca in consideration for reissue.
