mickey rat 15th Jan 2013		I had The Cheers version on a (Aussie?) Capitol 78 for many years but only kept it because it was Leiber & Stoller and I collected everything remotely connected to them. To be quite honest I didn't think much of it. For me it didn't have any of the Leiber & Stoller magic already evident on their other early-to-mid-fifties efforts. The Cheers were a white group who didn't have much idea of what rock & roll or R&B was all about (probably why it was a pop hit at the time). Group member Bert Convy went solo and actually had a record under his own name released on London in the U.K.



doberman 14th Jan 2013		Great!. It got to No.6 in the Billboard chart in the US on Sept. 24 1955 ( a week before James Dean died). also around this time 'The Wild One' with Marlon Brando was in the cinemas ( not the UK,). The teenage and twenty scene was changing for ever.
