zabadak, 6 Aug. 2012: "Artist?????"
The Toad, 7 Aug. 2012: "I suppose nowadays a 'crack train' would be thought of as being something to do with drug smuggling. :-("
Klepsie, 7 Aug. 2012: "Reminiscent of the classic "Uncle" children's books of JP Martin, where an old house with a huge fissure down its frontage is known, logically enough, as "Crack House"..."
telegramsam, 7 Aug. 2012: "Klepsie, those books by JP Martin are the most wonderful children's books ever written. They have such incredible imagination. The whole idea of Homeward as the castle with lost towers connected by switchback railways, lifts, oil lakes, tube trains and waterfalls is just too wonderful for words. I still read them even now and they are just as good now as they ever were. They've been almost forgotten - so it's nice to hear that someone else knows of them and enjoyed them."
Auto_Da_Fe, 7 Aug. 2012: "I too love the Uncle books - they go for enormous prices nowadays, and reissues never seem to get past the first one or two.. so I'll probably never read "Uncle and Claudius the Camel" or "Uncle and the Battle for Badgertown" again. Shame."
David M. McKee, 7 Aug. 2012: "22 "Uncle" books available now on Ebay."
musicmasters, 7 Aug. 2012: "am I missing something here? - I can't see where the artist for this release comes from? - it's not anywhere on the labels!"
Klepsie, 7 Aug. 2012: "telegramsam -- one of the names suggested for my band (by me, needless to say, and it was shot down by the other members, probably quite rightly) was "Beaver Hateman and the Badfort Crowd"..."
Auto_Da_Fe, 7 Aug. 2012: "27 now (on eBay).. but all bar two are reissues of the first two titles. And the other two are priced at £182 and £547"
telegramsam, 7 Aug. 2012: "The later Uncle books are indeed very very rare. I'd so love to find them at a reasonable price. I have the first paperback version of Uncle myself, but only repros of the next couple. One day . . . Ha ha. Nice to have found some fellow fans.
The Beaver Hateman band name is terrific! My two favourite characters are Hootman and Jellytussle! Ha ha"
leonard, 8 Aug. 2012: "Why this band name Zabadak and Music masters asked a while ago? No answer on these reasonable questions. [no artist listed] would be better. One other linked release is listed like that, the other linked release is under that silly artist name. They should be the same."
Felonius, 8 Aug. 2012: "Personally I think most band names are silly (The Beatles?) but if you look carefully at the covers of the two linked EPs you will find a reference to England's Most Famous "Crack" Trains.
Despite the fact that they are referring to locomotives rather than train and one of them is The Flying Scotsman the convoluted phrase
is the nearest to anything resembling an artist.
More of an artist than The Norrie Paramor Strings"
musicmasters, 14 Aug. 2012: "surely then the artist should be listed as "Real Train Sounds" for all three releases - as it's clearly shown on the covers of two of them, and above the track titles on this one?
It would make a lot more sense as "England's Most Famous "Crack" Trains" is just a description being used rather than an artist name... site mods, over to you..."
Felonious, 14 Aug. 2012: " No. Real Train Sounds is the the title of the record. Who's making those sounds. Why it's England's Most Famous "Crack" Trains.
Can we move on now?"
Whyperion, 26 Jul. 2014: "I think the related LP expands on the detail of the locomotives involved." |
