Biography - Interurban Press    USA

Interurban press was previously known as Interurbans, Interurbans Magazine and Interurbans Publications. From April 1944 to December 1948, Ira Swett published a monthly newsletter documenting the street rail way systems in U.S. cities for rail fans. During World War II, this was encouraged as it brought some members of the armed forces news from home.

In 1944, Ira issued his first "Special" dedicated to a specific topic. The size of the books grew from 4 pages to 576 pages. Ira passed away in 1976, but the effort was expanded, until the company was sold to Pentrex in 1993. The number of Specials ended at number 118 (although a few numbers were skipped).
