logo of a very simplified front (or rear) line drawing of a sailing ship in a circle.
sometimes placed this in a square cartouche below "mayflower", and sometimes added "dell" below the circle.
sold to the granada group ltd. 1967, who transferred it to granada publishing ltd. 1968.
sbn publisher's code/prefix 583-, isbn10 publisher's code prefix 0-583-
maintained as granada publishing's second paperback imprint to panther books, though the two were decreasingly differentiated in identity in the seventies, eventually being subsumed into a corporate "granada paperbacks" or "granada books" imprint.
history thereafter solely as that of the granada publishing group, being bought by william collins sons ltd., renamed grafton books; science fiction and fantasy imprint "voyager" created subsuming all fontana, mayflower, panther, unwin-hyman and related catalogues (save for some tolkien properties), though retaining and using their various publisher's isbn codes/prefixes, and the rights to use the acquired former publishers' names as imprints.
as part of wm. collins (&) sons, later acquired for his swag-bag by that truly fine merkin, rupert murdoch and corporate branding combined with murdoch's merkin prize publisher, harper & row, and re-named "harpercollinspublishers".
