the story of the mulberry harbours is the story of the realisation of fact that the need for the importation of supplies and reinforcements after the initial allied invasion of normandy at a rate faster than the wehrmacht could move its supplies, replacements and armour thither
could not be met by storming an existing port or ports - the dieppe raid demonstrated the impracticalities of attempting this, all too-bloodily - and the audacious answer to the problem devised, built and put into practice by the british army engineers and the shipbuilders of the uk, ably aided by the royal navy.
this is not fiction; it is non-fiction.
